Netia is the largest alternative fixed-line telecomoperator in Poland, providing telecommunications services throughout the country.
In April 1999, Netia was granted a license for network construction and delivery of data transmission services, as well as Internet access on the whole territory of Poland. In January 2000, the Netia 1 Consortium, composed, among others, of companies from the Netia Group was awarded a tender for the provision of long-distance telecommunications services. On March 15, 2000, the Minister of Telecommunications announced Netia's winning bid in a tender for the license to build a local network and provide telecommunications services in Warsaw. The license for the provision of long-distance telecom services was issued on May 27, and the license for the provision of services in Warsaw on June 30, 2000. In August 2001, Netia began to offer long-distance services through its own prefix number 1055, and in January 2002 added to its offer international services using the same prefix.
Considering the relatively low ratio of access to telecommunication services, Poland is an attractive, dynamically developing market for providers of telecommunications solutions, such as Netia. The Company aims to achieve the position of a preferred service provider both among corporate and individual customers. This goal is being achieved through customer orientation, state-of-the-art offering, delivery of the best business telecommunications solutions, excellent service packages to individual customers, competitive pricing and reliable, high-quality services.
Netia (as R.P. Telekom) obtained its first license in 1991 in Piła. Since starting operational activity in 1994, Netia has made significant investments in operations, corporate infrastructure and creation of brand awareness. In 1999, Netia‘s activities already covered all the major Polish cities.
